Stephan Bourgond

Stephan Bourgond was born in Sault Ste Marie, Canada and at the age of ten moved to Toronto to join Canada’s National Ballet School. He graduated with honors in 2003 and immediately moved to Hamburg, Germany where he attended the Hamburg Ballet School. He joined the company of the Hamburg Ballet n 2004, dancing the repertoire of John Neumeier. In 2006, Stephan joined Les Ballets de Monte Carlo where he was a Principal Dancer until 2018. In the repertoire of director Jean-Christophe Maillot, Stephan has danced such roles as Roméo in Roméo et Juliette, Faust in Faust, Carabosse in La Belle, the Prince in Cendrillon, Lysander in Le Songe and was chosen for the creation of such roles as The Prince in Lac (after Swan Lake), Charming in Casse Noisette Compagnie, and The Actor in Choré. Stephan has also been involved in multiple creations from Marco Goecke and has worked with other choreographers such as Marie Chouinard, Johan Inger, Alonzo King, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Shen Wei. In 2018, Stephan retired from the world of ballet and pursued his second passion in the culinary arts, working in Michelin starred restaurants in the south of France. He is excited to come out of retirement and be back sharing the stage with the beautiful artists of SDC.
